Research topic
Kindly think of the theme "The Body" and brainstorm on what your research topic might be. Consider this a safe non-threatening platform for exchange of ideas. Each student must suggest a topic and comment on another student's post.
Hello! I was thinking a cool topic might be emotions, and anything from whether emotions determine our physical state or vice versa, to how emotions are developed and shaped in an environment, to emotions from an evolutionary perspective! This may not seem like the most obvious topic to fall under body, but whether it's the biological or mental side of it, the body interrelates everything in the end.
I love this topic! I feel like there is so much to talk about and could be linked to so many interesting other ideas related to the mind. I feel like you could talk about the interconnection between body and mind and how they progress and change together or soemthing like that. GOODLUCK!!
I think you chose a very interesting topic. There are so many things to say about emotions, weather they are positive or negative, or how they make us behave, or even how they can have an impact on health.
Hello everyone! For my exploratory essay, I was thinking of writing about the subject “psychosomatic”, as in when our bodies become ill due to an excessive mental factor, such as stress or feeling overwhelmed. I was thinking about linking it to the reason behind our constant state of stress or something like that! On the other hand, I thought another interesting topic would be the effect of fast food and no sports on the body. The consequences and a possible solution to what would be described as a “lost cause”. What do you all think?! ☺️
Hello! I think both topics are very interesting and thought provoking. However, I think at least for myself, it would be easier to be more creative and expand more on the topic of stress. It's also really relatable to most of us, and could possibly help guide us so that we avoid stressors as much as possible throughout university, and even later on in life. Best of luck in whichever topic you choose!!
Hello! I was thinking about a very interesting topic for the theme "The Body": addiction. By addiction, I mean all kinds of addictions: mental and physical ( addiction to someone we love, or to substances like drugs). I think that addiction is a very vast topic that can lead to several discussions and researches done by scientists in different fields ( biology, psychology...).
I think this is a really interesting topic, especially if you focus on less addressed addictions, such as the one that you mentioned about getting addicted to someone you love. It could explain so many things most of us never really understand, like why it's so hard to get out of an abusive relationship. Brilliant topic, good luck!
Addiction is also one of my favorite topics. It is because many teenagers are becoming addicts, especially to drugs. No one really knows what is happening to their brain cells and how any type of drug may cause damage to their organs as they always say " drugs eat your organs". Other than that, good luck this is a very interesting topic. You would definitely enjoy the research. - Aya Saadeh
This is a very interesting topic! Many people are suffering from common addictions on a daily basis and are not aware because they might not know how severe it can get. Sometimes people might not even want to address addiction. Very broad and popular topic, good luck!
I think it's a very interesting topic since addiction is both mental and physical. And learning how one affects the other , as well as understanding a phenomenon that we may experience without even being aware of can be really useful.
I agree with you because i find it really underrated as we ignore many addictions that really affect us daily and afffect our lives. It can be really random addiction as cellphone addiction or more complex addictions like drug addiction.
For the essay I was thinking about what happens to our body when we sleep, like in the organ systems, brain, etc... Basically, exploring how the psychology and physical aspects of the body during sleep
I personally think that this topic is a very engrossing one since there are so many things that may be discussed when it comes to what happens to the human body when he or she falls asleep. Also, it can be linked to several captivating ideas like the brain and many other interesting things.
I think your topic is very interesting, you will learn a lot of new information about that field . In addition, this topic includes many different aspects that are also good to know.
Hey, i think that your topic is very interesting and that you can find a lot of info to write about. Personally, i would also talk about the consequences of lack of sleep and the effects that it can have on our bodies. Good luck
Hello everyone, for my explanatory essay, I was thinking of writing about excessive exercising and its effects on the body. I chose this topic since I find it to be a very interesting one and it includes many ideas to talk about. I would like to link it to the eating problems which may be caused because of diminished appetite after too much sports. Also, we can talk about insomnia since it is a common effect of over exercising.
I feel like your idea is really intriguing, especially if you do a contrast between people who just satrted sports and people who have been practicing since young age (like 6/7). The same effect, just on different levels. Anyway goodluck!
I love this idea and feel that it is a very important topic to discuss and elaborate about since it helps us gain personal information while writing it. I also feel that it is a very interesting topic .
hii, I would like to talk about general mental disorders that humans happen to have. For example, A person that has Borderline Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, schizophrenic, and so on. other than stating the affect of these mental disorders, i will mention what and how it affects the body and the mind of a human being. I chose this topic because i find it very interesting. Thank you xo
Hi, personally, this is a very interesting topic that i really like too and we kind of have the same idea. I think this is one of the least talked about topics and also the most common. It is a very nice topic to work on especially if you point out how gravely it affects people. Goodluckk!
Hello! I think topics related to mental health are really interesting. Mental disorders are rarely known and I think we must increase our knowledge about them more, especially since they are on the rise nowadays.
Helloo, for my explanatory essay I was thinking about writing about how the society we live in influence our body physically and mentally throughout the years; all kind of social problems and events such as social media, wars, technology… this is a very vast topic that leads to many interesting ideas. Also, I am thinking of another topic which is diseases and how they affect the mental and physical health of people and especially mental illness such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder…
Those are interesting topics, with the latter being a bit more relevant now than the former, but I think you can expand the first topic in a better way, so it's up to you!
I was gonna write about the same one as well! We’re facing a huge problem in our society which is people criticizing one’s appearance causing insecurities to others. You can add this as well as stereotypes,bullying...
Hello, for my explanatory essay i was thinking of writing about what it takes to be fit; sports and diet ... for example. Also, what happens if you go to the extreme. Whether it’s obesity or even the “perfect” body. And all the negative effects and stress that comes with it.
I am very much interested in everything that involves “beauty standards” , Nowadays people are more interested into getting the perfect body or face ,this being easier with the progress of plastic surgeries ,helping people fit in and feel better about theirselves . And how your physical appearance is connected to your mental health or well being .
As I'm majoring in Medical Laboratory Sciences, I'm thinking of 2 topics for my essay: Nanotechnology and stem cell research. I'm very interested in writing about the challenges vs. the benefits of nanotechnology but at the same time I want to write about whether stem cell research is ethical or not.
Hey everybody! For my exploratory essay, I was thinking of writing about anesthesia and its effects on the body. Till this day many people have died during operations because of slight differences in the amounts of anesthesia that are taken. Also, the effects of anesthesia differ from a body to another. In fact, women may react to anesthesia differently than men. It is true that anesthesia is safer nowadays because of advances in both technology and medication, but it is still unknown why methods of anesthesia work differently on different patients. But it might be hard to write 5 pages about this topic, what do you think?
I find your topic very intriguing, as I too, as a hopeful future surgeon, have wondered about the body’s different responses to anesthesia. I think it would also be interesting if you talked about “anesthesia awareness”, in which people, although anesthetized, still feel everything that is happening to their body, but they can’t even speak to express their pain.
Hello, in my explanatory essay I was thinking of talking about how aware we are of our body and keeping it healthy. This can range from not caring about staying fit and not eating healthy to becoming overly obsessed with exercising and barely eating proper food. These can have psychological affects as well as physical affects sometimes becoming fatal. Another topic I was thinking of is how one might get a certain terminal disease and start to think that his or her body has betrayed her. The human body is a very complex system and goes through many developments and sudden changes. A small malfunction can be fatal and so if the mental health of the patients are not positive this will not help in their journey to getting better.
Both choices are very interesting and relatable to many, you have a lot to talk about for both ideas. Personally, the second choice is more interesting as we all can understand what other people could be going through even if we haven't gone through it ourselves.
Hello, I was thinking of writing about how emotional states physically affect your body, inside (immunity) and out (physical phenomenons as crying, laughing...). I also thought of many examples like placebo effect, panic attacks, how medical patients get better more quickly when they are positive...), how emotions are directly linked with hormones and chemical reactions in our body... I am thinking of focusing on one of these examples instead of the general idea.
For my essay i was thinking of writing about “the perception of a body”, basically i would go into detail about how one perceives their body and go further into bolimia, anorexia and so on.
For my essay, I believe exploring the topic of recreational drugs, as in their effects on the human brain, and the reasons behind their excessive use, would be very interesting. The world has witnessed a large increase in the use of drugs recently, and I am wondering why. I think I will focus on marijuana since it is one of the most used drugs, and I do not comprehend it fully.
I personally find your topic really interesting since it is relevant to today's society as recreational drugs consumption is becoming more and more tolerated and even legalized across the world.
I believe that substance abuse is a really interesting topic for the research essay, as we enter an age where alcohol and drug consumption become more and more present in our surroundings. Two different aspects should be tackled. First of all, how your body reacts while you are under the influence. On the other hand how your body will be affected on the long run, after long periods of substance abuse.
For the final essay, I chose to write about society’s effect on human health, insecurities, emotions... We live in a century where people are bullied for their appearance or when people try so hard to have a slim body similar to models we see on magazines or social media. We start to claim that this is the ‘perfect body’ so we head to gyms day to night, starve ourselves to death, take steroids eventually hurting ourself physically and mentally. I would like to point out the main problems we are facing these days regarding this issue.
For the essay , I suggest we write about the changing diet and lifestyles throughout history , and answer questions such as why were people thinner in the past but never worried about what they ate , or like why are people so obsessed with dieting now yet half of the population is considered overweight .
